AUDIO ARCHITECT Indicating the Last Recalled Preset on a BLU-8v2
Table of Contents
Overview:
This guide will demonstrate how to program the BLU-8v2 such that the four buttons both recall Parameter Presets and remain lit once pushed. This provides an indication as to which Parameter Preset was last recalled. The accompanying Audio Architect file provides a completed and functional version of the design which can be used in reference to all the steps below. This technique would work equally well on Soundweb Contrio wall controllers such as the EC-4B, EC-4BV and EC-8BV.
This implementation works by integrating the BLU-8v2 buttons into the Logic configuration of a Soundweb London rack device.
- Logic Source objects are wired to Preset Trigger objects.
- Logic Source objects are linked using type: Radio
- Logic Source objects are assigned to the BLU-8 buttons.
When a BLU-8v2 button is pushed, its associated Logic Source will change to the On state and the Preset Trigger will recall a Parameter Preset. The Logic Source will remain in the On state which is reflected by the BLU-8v2 button staying lit. When another BLU-8v2 button is pushed, its associated Logic Source will change to the On state, and the previous Logic Source will, in consequence, change to the Off state and its BLU-8 button will be extinguished.
Creating the Logic Configuration:
The logic circuit consists of only two types of Logic objects. These establish the required functionality and association between the BLU-8v2 buttons and the logic configuration.
Add four Logic Source objects into the Logic Configuration Window by dragging and dropping from the Logic Objects tab in the Venue Explorer or by right-clicking in the Logic Configuration window and selecting the object from the drop down context menu. These objects form the start of our logic circuit and provide a means to tie the BLU-8v2 buttons into the Logic Configuration.

Add four Preset Trigger objects into the Logic Configuration. These objects will be configured to recall a Parameter Preset when their inputs go from an Off state to an On state. Wire the Logic Sources to the Preset Triggers.

Configure the Preset Trigger objects in the Properties window by selecting the Preset Trigger object and clicking the drop down menu “Activate Preset on 1” field.

A window appears, listing all the presets available from which the required Parameter Preset can be selected. Click OK to close the window.
The Preset Trigger objects are now configured to recall the selected Parameter Preset when their inputs are changed to the On state by the Logic Source objects.

Linking the Logic Source Parameters:
In the Logic Configuration, click on “New Link” in the Soundweb London Ribbon. Select “Radio” in the drop down box. A radio Link allows only one parameter at a time to be On. When a parameter is turned On all other parameters in the Link Group will be set to Off.

The Link will appear in the Venue Explorer inside the “ Soundweb London Links” folder. The Link can be renamed by right clicking and selecting “Rename” in the drop down box that appears. The Logic Source parameters can now be added to the Link group.

Double click on the Logic Source objects in the Logic Configuration to open their Default Control Panels.
Now drag and drop the Link from the Venue Explorer onto each Logic Source button.
Confirm that the Logic Source parameters have been added to the Link by expanding the Link in the Venue Explorer.

Assigning the Logic Sources to the BLU-8v2 buttons.
Open the BLU-8v2 Setup panel by double clicking on the device in the Rack view.
Assign the Logic Source buttons to the BLU-8v2 buttons by dragging and dropping the Logic Source buttons from the Default Control Panels onto the BLU-8v2 Button Setup panel while holding down the CTRL key.
These parameters could also be assigned by dragging and dropping from the Venue Explorer in the device’s Logic folder.

Notes:
The Audio Architect file included with this guide features a BLU-100 and BLU-8v2. Four Parameter Presets have been assigned as outlined in this guide. A custom panel has been created with the Gain parameters that are included in the Parameter Presets along with Preset Recall buttons and the Logic Source buttons. The panel can be run online or offline. The Logic Source buttons behave in the same way as on the BLU-8v2.
This implementation shows the last Parameter Preset recalled. If a Parameter Preset is recalled from the BLU-8v2 then a parameter is changed the BLU-8v2 button will still be lit. Parameter Presets in Soundweb London are one-shot events and are not states.
Once a BLU-8v2 button has been pressed and the Logic Source has turned On, the preset will not be recalled again by pressing the same BLU-8v2 button again. If this behaviour is required then the Logic Source button should be linked with a “Radio with Off” type Link.
