Question:   Answer:

Question:

Can I leave NetLinx devices at their dynamic device addresses after plugging them on the bus?

Answer:

Many NetLinx components begin life as a Dynamic Device when first connected to the system.  That means that the first time you connect them to the system, they look for devices above 32,001 and set themselves to the next available device in that range.  This allows you to "see" the new NetLinx device in NetLinx Studio before you've set it to a specific number.  But it also means that the device number will likely change every time it connects to the system.   When you see a NetLinx device at a number above 32,001, use the NetLinx_Studio_Diagnostics_Device Addressing tool to change the number to the one you'll use for programming.
