Hello, and welcome to this video on installing Muse Automator. Before installing Muse Automator, you must first install several dependencies. If these dependencies are not installed beforehand, Muse Automator will not run correctly. You can find links to all required dependencies in the Muse Automator Instruction Manual available at AMX.com.
The first dependency to install is Node.js (v20.11.1 or later) and Node Package Manager (NPM) (v10.2.4 or later). Muse Automator is a custom version of the Node-RED software, so it requires Node.js to run on your system. It also requires NPM to install third party nodes.
There are multiple ways to install these dependencies based on your needs or programming preferences, but the simplest method for Windows is to download the prebuilt installer. This installer includes both Node.js and NPM.
You can download the prebuilt installer using the link in the Muse Automator Manual or from the description of this video.
Once downloaded, run the installer, accept the terms, and confirm the installation folder. From here, we recommend using the default installation settings to complete the installation.
Continue through the installation process and, if prompted, be sure to allow the application to make changes to your device. During installation, additional tools may be installed—follow the prompts to run these scripts as required.
Once Node.js installation is complete, the next dependency to install is Git. Git is a version control system that enables the Project feature in Muse Automator, allowing you to organize flows into discrete projects. It also enables the Push and Pull functionality required to deploy flows to a physical MUSE Controller.
For Windows, Git is available as a standalone installer, like Node.js and NPM. You can find a link to the Git installer in the Muse Automator Manual or in the description of this video.
After downloading Git, run the installer, accept the terms, and confirm the installation folder. The Git installer will guide you through several configuration options. It is recommended that you use the default, installer recommended settings. For more details, refer to the official Git documentation. Click Next through the remaining steps until the installation is complete.
Once Git, Node.js, and NPM are installed, you are ready to install the Muse Automator software. Muse Automator can be downloaded from the product page on AMX.com, with links also provided in the video description.
After downloading Muse Automator, run the installer. Once installation is complete, Muse Automator will automatically launch.
