Studio Loses menu bar

Problem

The dealer somehow managed to lose the menu bar.

(File, Edit, View, etc....)

Restarting Studio does not help and doesn't have the installer to do a re-install.

Can't find any way to get it back in any of the available toolbar buttons.

Resolution

Before starting this process, shut down Studio.

In order to restore the Menu bar in the application, you will need to edit the system registry. It is possible to cause serious problems when doing registry editing.  WE would advise creating a backup of the registry file using the “File / Export" feature in the Registry editor.

Start the Registry Editor by clicking “Start > Run" then type { regedit } (leave out the braces) in the Open: box in the Run dialog. Click “OK".

In the File menu choose 'Export' and save the registry file in a location you will remember.

Then navigate to this location:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\AMX Corp.\NetLinx Studio\Settings\ControlBars-Bar0

In the Bar0 item find and delete the "Visible"

or set the value to 1 instead of 0 and the menu bar will be back when you re-start Studio.

Using this information, it is possible to inspect each of the ControlBar items and show or hide them by changing the “Visible" item from 0 (hide) to 1  (show).

For example, ControlBars-Bar5 is for the “Edit" toolbar.
