Cleaning AMX User Interfaces

This document applies to all AMX user interfaces including:

  • Touch Panels
  • Scheduling Panels
  • Control Pads
  • Keypads
  • Switcher control surfaces
  • MyTurn Source Selector Buttons

AMX devices can be cleaned and disinfected using an alcohol solution consisting of a CDC-approved ratio of 70% isopropyl alcohol and 30% water.

When cleaning the device, follow these guidelines:

  1. Do not directly spray the device with cleaning fluid. Instead, spray or slightly moisten a soft, lint-free cloth and then apply the cloth to the surface to be cleaned.
  2. If possible, disconnect the product from power and remove all connectors prior to cleaning. If this is not practical, wipe down only the front surface of the product and avoid cleaning any parts of the product that are near any connectors.
  3. Dry all surfaces thoroughly and avoid pooling of liquids on the device. Do not allow moisture to drip into openings in the device as moisture entering the device may cause damage to the product.

Do NOT use abrasives of any type to clean the product as abrasives may permanently damage or remove the finish.

NOTE: Read and follow all manufacturer instructions regarding the handling of isopropyl alcohol.

  • Avoid contact with skin, eyes, and clothing.
  • Keep away from heat, flame and sources of ignition.
  • Use with adequate ventilation.
  • The use of protective clothing including safety gloves and eye protection is recommended.
