Boot Loader

The Boot Loader application can be used to upload firmware files into a Soundweb London device over the network port if the device does not boot up. The application is installed as part of Hi Qnet London Architect and is located in the following folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Harman Pro\Boot Loader.exe

Locating the Firmware Files

The firmware files for Soundweb London devices can be found in the following folders. The firmware files use the extension: .firmware e.g. BLU100.firmware

  • London Architect - C:\Program Files (x86)\Harman Pro\London Architect\Firmware
  • Audio Architect - C:\Program Files\Harman Pro\Audio Architect x.xx\Firmware Updates

Connecting to the Network Port

Connect the computer to the Soundweb London device directly or across an Ethernet switch. The IP address of the computer is not important. Boot Loader will transmit broadcast packets with a MAC address destination of ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff and IP address destination of 255.255.255.255.

Preparing the Soundweb London Device

Start the device in Boot Loader Mode and identify the MAC address using the following procedure:

  • BLU-80/32/16 - Press and hold any LOCATE button while applying power to the device. Keep the LOCATE button pressed until the front panel LCD displays the MAC address e.g. 000FD400C71A
  • BLU-80x/32x - Press and hold any LOCATE button while applying power to the device. Keep the LOCATE button pressed until the front panel LCD displays the MAC address e.g. 000FD400C71A
  • BLU-GPX - Press and hold any LOCATE button while applying power to the device. Keep the LOCATE button pressed until the front panel LCD displays the MAC address e.g. 000FD400C71A
  • BLU-10x - Press and hold the LOCATE button while applying power to the device. Keep the LOCATE button pressed until the LED on the front panel show the following colors: COM (orange), STAT (orange), ERR (orange). The MAC address is located on a sticker on the rear panel.
  • BLU-8 and BLU-8v2 - Press and hold the LOCATE button while applying power to the device. Keep the LOCATE button pressed until Buttons 1,2,3 and 4 are illuminated with an orange color. The MAC address is located on a sticker on the rear panel.
  • BLU-10 - Press and hold the EXIT button while applying power to the device. Keep the EXIT button pressed until the front panel LCD displays the MAC address e.g. 000FD400C71A

Uploading the Firmware with Boot Loader

Ensure that Boot Loader is allowed by Windows firewall or third party firewall applications.

  • Start Boot Loader and enter the MAC address of the device
  • Click the button: Add To List
  • For all devices except BLU-8 select: Standard Transfer Mode
  • For BLU-8 select: Acknowledged Transfer Mode
  • Click the button: Browse…
  • Select the firmware file then click: Open
  • Click the button: Start

The blue bar will indicate the progress of the transmission of the firmware.

The bar will turn green when the firmware transmission is complete. This confirms that the firmware has been transmitted completely. It does not confirm that the device has received the firmware.

The Soundweb London device will reboot automatically.
After a few seconds, the LCD will display “Calc. Checksum" followed by “Programming…". This indicates that the firmware is being checked and installed. The Soundweb London device will reboot once more and run normally.

If the Soundweb London device does not respond to firmware transmission then close Boot Loader and re-start the application as Administrator. Right-click the Boot Loader.exe file and select: Run as Administrator.

Important Notes

It is recommended to upload the version of firmware which is the same as the version already installed. The Configuration will run and Audio Architect or London Architect will not prompt to upload firmware when going Online.
The Configuration will not run if the uploaded version of firmware is different from the version already installed. Audio Architect or London Architect will prompt to upload the firmware and will prompt to load the Configuration when going Online.
