Overview: SVSi ENCODER SETUP: QSC RECEIVER SETUP: TROUBLESHOOTING:

Overview:

Configuring SVSi N-Series And QSC for PCM Audio

SVSi ENCODER SETUP:

The SVSi Unit should be tested and verified that it is outputting an audio stream.  Verify in settings that:

  1. Audio is NOT encrypted at the encoder.
  2. Check the settings for “Interleaved Multicast Stream" if enabled, note the Audio Stream Address found in the top of the settings page for the encoder.

QSC RECEIVER SETUP:

In QSC Designer, add a Media Stream Receiver found in the Streaming I/O section of Designer.   Verify with QSC the number of Receivers allowed with a particular piece of hardware.

In the URL section of the Media Stream Receiver, enter in the stream number of the encoder you wish to listen to.    Depending on SVSi settings, you may need to enter in either the stream number, or the multicast audio address.    In the diagram below, is both methods – showing accessing stream 157.  If stream numbers are different, use the appropriate stream number instead.    The UDP method will work with both interleaved and non-interleaved modes for SVSi encoders.  The SVSi:<streamNumber>, will only work with non-interleaved streams.

Once the connection is established between the encoder and the Core, the status light should go green and indicate connection.  If the Core cannot or is not receiving the audio stream, the status indicator will stay blue and say “initializing" or “initializing – Buffering Stream".

TROUBLESHOOTING:

  1. Verify that audio from Encoder is not encrypted and present on a decoder or audio transceiver.
  2. Verify that the QSC core connection is on the same network as the SVSi encoders and that Multicast traffic is not blocked to the core.
  3. Verify the SVSi Interleaved multicast setting, and that the proper stream URL is entered in the core.
  4. For N1000 only – verify that MPC mode is ENABLED, and Interleaved Multicast Mode is DISABLED.
  5. Verify in QSC designed that the Media Stream Receiver “INTERFACE" is set to Auto or the correct interface for the application.

AUDIO FROM QSC TO SVSI:

  1. In QSC Designer, add a Media Stream Transmitter to the project.  Verify with QSC the numbers of Transmitters a piece of hardware can support.
  2. Once saved to the core, open the Transmitters properties and set:
    1. Protocol:  SVSi
    2. SVSi Stream: Any Valid Non-Consumed Stream Number
    3. Interface: Either Auto, or to the correct interface for the application.
  3. NOTE – This will not work if the decoder is in Interleaved Multicast Mode.
  4. Setup the Decoder
    1. Change the Audio Stream to Match the Output stream of the Transmitter.
