Question:
How can I discover my processor?
Answer:
Here are two methods to discover Netlinx controllers if the IP address is unknown.
One requiring a network connection to a network where the NX controller is also connected and the other requires a USB connection.
Connect to NI/NX controller via IP discovery
- Ensure you have a network connection to the same network the NX controller is on.
- Open up Netlinx Studio and in the bottom left select the Zero-Config tab.
- In the window above right click and press “Refresh Zero-Config List" You should be presented with a list of devices (Some may be non-AMX hardware)
- Now if you obtain the serial number from the physical device and locate this in the Netlinx Studio zero-config list (it's the number at the end of the description) find the matching serial in the zero-config list, expand the view with the (+) button to see the unit IP address:
Connect to NX controller vis USB discovery
- Ensure you have a USB A-B lead (USB A – Mini USB for DGX) and it's connected to the front of the NX controller (Rear program port on DGX)
- Open up Netlinx Studio go to Settings – Active (or Workspace) communication Settings and select the USB tab. Netlinx will automatically start to scan for the USB device. Once discovered the unit will be listed along with its IP Address.
