Question: Answer: Time in a Soundweb London device

Question:

Can I set the time in a Soundweb London device using a third party control message?

Answer:

Yes, the device time can be set using a third party control message which can be transmitted over the network or RS232.

The SET message format below can be used to construct the message to be transmitted over network TCP port 1023 or RS232 Baud Rate 115200, Data Bits 8, Stop Bits 1, Parity none.

Where Value is four byte (32 bit signed) integer which represents the Current Epoch Unix Timestamp. Unix Timestamps can be converted here: https://www.unixtimestamp.com/

Where check-sum is the XOR of all the bytes in the BODY before byte substitution.

Byte substitution should be applied before calculating checksum. Note that message length will vary if byte substitution is applied.

02 substitute with 1B 82

03 substitute with 1B 83

06 substitute with 1B 86

15 substitute with 1B 95

1B substitute with 1B 9B

Below are some example messages after check-sum followed by byte substitution have been calculated.

Set time to 00:00.00 GMT on 01 JAN 1970 - Unix Timestamp 0 (Value: 00 00 00 00)

Set time to 07:00.00 GMT on 01 SEP 2022 - Unix Timestamp 1662015600 (Value: 63 10 58 70)

Set time to 10:34.28 GMT on 26 FEB 2022 - Unix Timestamp 1645871728 (Value: 62 1A 02 34)

Time in a Soundweb London device

The third-party control messages will set the GMT time in the Soundweb London device. The actual device time will be offset by the time zone and daylight-saving time configured in the Venue Options in Audio Architect or File Preferences in London Architect.

The GMT time in a Soundweb London device is set when going online with Audio Architect or London Architect. The time set with third-party control messages will therefore be overridden when going online with these software applications.
