Question:
How do I Setup IIS & Remotely Load Firmware to the AcendoBook?
Answer:
Setting up IIS & remotely loading firmware:
The AcendoBook has the capability to remotely load firmware from a web server. This server has to be accessible from the network the panel is on and require no authentication. You can use any SSH client but PuTTy is free and available from PuTTy.org, this guide will use PuTTy.
How to access AcendoBook Panel via SSH:
- Disable pseudo-terminal.
- If using PuTTy: Open SSH dropdown>Select TTY>Select check box for “Don't allocate a pseudo-terminal".
- Enable session logging in your client.
- In PuTTY, select Logging.
- Select All Session Output.
- Click Browse to find a location to save the file and give it a name.
- Once you have disabled the pseudo-terminal and enabled session logging, open the SSH connection to the panel.
- Default login: amx
- Default Password: 1988
Note:
If the password was changed on the panel, the SSH password will be the password used to access panel settings.
How to Enable IIS on your PC:
- Select Start>Type “Turn Windows Features On or Off”
- Check the "Internet Information Services" box. Click OK. Allow installation to process and close all dialogs
- Select Start>Type "IIS">Select Internet Information Services Manager
- In IIS click the triangle beside your machine name in the Connections panel on the left of the IIS Manager dialog. Expand "Sites", Select “Default Web Site”
- Select MIME Types, Select "Add..." in Actions pane and enter this info:
- File Name Extension: .kit
- MIME Type: application/x-zip-compressed
- Open a File Explorer window and navigate to "C:\inetpub\wwwroot", move the .kit file to this directory
Note:
If your panel is an MD-702/1002 there is a + in the firmware file name that is not supported by the WEBU command. You will need to rename the firmware file to remove the + when adding it to the wwwroot directory.
How to remotely load firmware to panel:
- Open an SSH connection to panel
- Send "webu http://[youriphere]/nameofkitfile"
Note:
You should see a progress bar pop up almost immediately -- if you do not see this, the connection from panel to PC/Server did not work. The panel will need to be rebooted before attempting another download.
